LYL STARR, lmft #149628
I am Latina, a child of immigrants, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, a parent, a partner, and have been a client in therapy. I appreciate and admire the courage it took for you to take this step toward choosing you.
My desire is to come to know you and your story as it has been and to be with you as you decide what comes in the next chapter. We were never meant to go through life alone, we are all worthy of feeling loved and seen. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship filled with trust so that you can feel safe in knowing you will never be alone in your healing journey.
I enjoy working with individuals who would like to come back home to themselves. Those exploring their identity, culture, sexuality, parenthood, and relationship(s), those healing from trauma and shame. Those who seek to know themselves fully and live beyond the assumption of who they should be.

My approach to therapy is compassion driven, trauma-informed, and in pursuit of your most authentic self.
Therapy (from my perspective) is individual to you. I know that many therapists say this and what that means to me is that I want to get to know all parts of you! Not just how your anxiety manifests or how scary it feels to change the dynamics in your relationship, but those parts of you that you fear won’t be accepted, those parts of you that have held on to shame or guilt or embarrassment. These parts of you hold so much power and strength and compassion.
EMDR
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is backed by years of research and data for trauma treatment. My approach to EMDR incorporates Polyvagal Theory to gain an understanding of your nervous system and Ego States/IFS techniques.
Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory addresses how our nervous system has and continues to adapt to help us get through stressors, life, etc. It can be empowering to develop an understanding of how your nervous system has been responding and what you can do to support it as you heal and live life!
Affirming Care
I provide affirming care for those in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.
I am also Poly/ENM, Kink/BDSM informed and encourage discussions that help de-stigmatize alternative relationships and sex.
IFS Informed
I have taken trainings to inform the incorporation of parts work into talk therapy, EMDR and Brainspotting. Parts Work can be powerful to increasing self-compassion and insight to self.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful brain-body modality. It is wonderful for processing traumas, anxieties, fears as well as enhancing grounding techniques and resources.
